Absolutely DELICIOUS! Huge shout out to Shin and the waitress on staff today for their hospitality. We loved the pork belly, lettuce, and soybean paste dip. Massive portion. Wasn't sure if we could finish it at first but we ended up cleaning the plate. Excellent flavors with high quality meat. Fantastic side dishes with refills offered too: kimchi, bean sprouts, broccoli, and radish. Dumplings were cooked to order. We left very satisfied and happy!
It is good but it is on the expensive side. You get 3 side dishes unlimited. Kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cake. I got the beef bulgolgi hot stone. It was yummy. This place gives me cafeteria style vibes with its silver tray and place it on the rack when you're done deal.
The Korean food scene in KC still has a long way to go, but this place serves more traditional dishes in the area. Their banchans (small side appetizer dishes) are usually kimchi, bean sprouts, radishes, fried fishcakes, braised potatoes, and soy braised peanuts. Banchans are pretty indicative of the quality and taste of the other dishes at a Korean restaurant, and I wish they had more variety as these are more of the typical ones you can get anywhere. As a tip, you can always ask for more of a certain banchan without additional cost. Naengmyeon is one of my favorite Korean dishes, but it is only served during the summer since it's a cold noodle dish and Gangnam's serves justice to this dish. The broth had an enough sweet, sour, and spice balance. Make sure you request them to cut your noodles if you do order this dish as the noodles can be pretty long. The dolsot bibimbap (hot stone rice bowl) is also pretty worth it for the price and amount given. I always enjoy the sizzling sound while I wait for the rice to crisp up in the stone. Their soondubu jjigae (tofu stew) and soulongtang were bland and diluted compared to others I've tried. The meat was scarce in the ox bone soup. I would not order either dish again. All their bulgogis and grilled samkyupsal (pork belly) are sub par for the price. Overall, their dishes are authentic but the quality is not the best and their service can be slow at times, but this is a place to go if you're craving any Korean dishes in the KC area.
I've been here a couple times to get my korean fix. It's a small sort of hole in the wall but their food is authentic. (I'm not korean btw if you're wondering). I got the tofu soup (soon dobu) and the pancake (paejang). I've also had the pork (samgyupsal). If you're looking for a warm soup with meat and tofu that's incredibly filling and healthy I definitely recommend the soup. It's a great comfort food I always crave when it starts getting cold. The korean pancake is a savory egg frittata with seafood mixed in and served on a hot plate making it crisp. It's massive so make sure you have other people with you to polish it off. It's good as leftovers if you hear it up in a toaster oven too. Think of the pork as THICK bacon. If you like bacon you will absolutely like korean style pork. If you're on the lookout for good authentic korean food I'd recommend checking out this place. Maybe saunter in doing the Psy dance while you're at it
My friend and I stumbled upon this place after going to Ssong's, which is in the same area. I've really been craving some Korean soups, and have been looking for places in KC. I haven't been to many so far, and this one wasn't too bad. The serving portions are big and food came out pretty promptly. The japchae was good, and my friend enjoyed her short ribs! I ordered the yukgaejang. The serving size was big, but it tasted a little bland/diluted. It wasn't a bad experience, but not the best soup I've had.
